When the ENT saw that Gidion had congenital defects in his ears, we had to go for hearing tests. Off course my angelchild saw only the fun in that, and had the time of his life in the soundproof room - did everything except keeping the headphones (which was too big - off course!) on. So we had to schedule an OBR where my angel needed to be sedated AGAIN...
We did the test on Thursday 6 October, just after a session with the speech therapist. Thank our Father we were able to sedate him. Off course he became like a little drunk- giggling and pulling his face and singing "Heidi" to his mom in the highest possible tone he could manage..it was hilarious. The test took about 3 hours - I was exhausted! The results showed that Gidion had mild hearing loss in his right ear, and moderate loss in his left. That posed a huge problem, since it meant that he wouldn't be able to distinguish between different sounds at once, and would also not be able to localise sound or noise. The specialist audiologist said that a hearing aid is the best option, since the loss would influence his speech development and abilities as he is currently on a neurological peak. My stress notched up a few bars... my medical aid does not pay for it, and it is R7000-R25000 depending on what he needed.
Then she called me today to say that they have received the speech therapist's report and they (ENT included) decided that Gidion does not need a hearing aid. His speech and development is on standard with his age!! We only have to do weekly speech therapy sessions and would need to do another OBR in a year's time.
I stand in awe... thank you Father... Gidion is so blessed and special to the Lord - He is giving him extra attention and mercy and keeps His hand of protection over him. I humble myself at His feet...
