We redid the bloodtests on Friday and it looked so good! Almost all Gidion's cell counts were normal (which has NEVER been the case), and his body was absorbing the iron. Even his white blood cells (which is an indication of his immunity - which has always been low), is NORMAL!
His platelets were still low, but it increased from 51 to 92 *smile* The oncologist said that she was very happy and wasn't worried in the least about the platelets. Apparantly the FA kids have lower platelets compared to other children, so she believes that this might be his baseline (his normal). We just have to confirm in a month's time, but I know as I know that it will be even higher than this last test. We give God all the glory and praise His name. Thank you Lord, we are humbled before your name Once every 6 months we have to test Gidion's blood profile to see if his bone marrow is still working okay. We tested it in November, and praise our King it was normal. We just had to add an iron supplement, since his oncologist thought he might be a bit iron deficient. So we had to test again end of February.
I was floored and totally shaken...his results came out and his platelets were very, very low. I couldn't believe my eyes - how was it possible that it could drop SO much in a period of 2 months?? And the iron wasn't working either. A low platelet count usually indicates that the bone marrow is starting to fail. But this usually only happens when the kids are 5-6 years old, and Gidion is 2 for crying out loud!! The oncologist said that she never trusts only one result, and that we had to wait for 10 days before we test again. So we have to wait for 10 excrutiating stressful days until Friday 11 March to test again. I refuse to take the results, and pray and praise our Father that Gidion's blood count will be perfectly normal. I truly believe he is healed, and I will not stand that teh enemy attacks Gidion like this. Will everyone stand with me in prayer and ask for God's healing? He says that wherever two or more agree, He will hear. On the bright side, Gidion is doing SOOOO well :) He absolutely loves his school and teachers and asks me every 2 seconds when we are going to "tatta" to Mandie. He shows no signs of being sick and is his lovely, active, bright self. Just look how adorable he looked after his hair cut. And the bowl of food is his own concoction - jelly bean flavoured oats with juice and Simba chips! |
